-Seeks support for another mandate, APC candidates
The incumbent representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) has called for an issued based campaign with communities, people and future of generations to come as centre of conversations in the build up to the 2027 General Elections.
Hon. AMA who expressed his appreciation to the constituents for the opportunity given to him in 2023 to serve them and for their support, also encouraged residents of the three council areas in Ikorodu Constituency II – Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Ijede and Imota LCDAs, to fully participate in the ongoing electioneering process that would usher in another political dispensation.
The first -term state lawmaker made the appeal in a statement late Wednesday, to signal the commencement of campaign for next year’s General Elections.
“My Dear People of Ikorodu Constituency II, as we officially enter the campaign season for the 2027 General Elections, I wish to sincerely thank you for your continued participation in our democratic process and, most importantly, for the confidence you placed in us in the 2023 elections.
“Your participation, support and mandate gave us the opportunity to serve. For that, I remain deeply grateful.”
“Over the years, there have been efforts, projects and interventions across our communities, and it is important to acknowledge the progress recorded. At the same time, democracy gives us the opportunity to be honest with one another. Where there are areas requiring greater attention, improvement, accountability or a different approach, I encourage you to express those concerns respectfully and constructively.”
AMA urging for an issue -based campaign and conversations, said: “As we begin another electoral journey, let us make our communities, our people and the future of our children the centre of every conversation.
“I encourage everyone to participate actively, attend legitimate campaign engagements, ask questions, examine the records of candidates, compare their programmes and exercise your constitutional right to vote.”
The lawmaker who has been generally agreed to be an active and impactful lawmaker in his first term also pleaded with the constituents of Ikorodu Constituency II to support his second term aspiration and those of other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming elections, starting from President Bola Tinubu who is also seeking a second term.
“Please, support and vote: His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu — President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; His Excellency, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat — Governor of Lagos State; Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru — Senator, Lagos East Senatorial District; Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson — Member, House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency and my humble self, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun — Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency II.”
He also enjoined the electorate to go about their campaign in a way and manner that promotes friendliness and peaceful co -existence.
“I equally appeal for peace, civility, tolerance and mutual respect throughout the campaign period. Let us engage responsibly, support peaceful democratic activities, and ensure that the 2027 electoral process strengthens our communities and our democracy.”
